Owl Boys Dominate Van Buren

In the first of two meetings with the Van Buren Crusaders this season, our boys cruised to a 7-0 victory while playing their second match on the road. The lopsided victory is the second shutout in a row for the Owls as they improve their record to 4-0. The Owls will take their talents to Central Aroostook on Thursday as they battle the Panthers for the last time this season.

Lady Owls fall to the Lady Warriors

Our Lady Owls fought hard against a very aggressive Fort Kent team this evening only to fall short with a 1 - 3 loss. Despite the result, the Owls showed a great deal of resolve as they battled hard throughout the duration of the match. Scoring for the Owls was Nicole Cyr, with her 2nd penalty goal of the season. The Lady Owls, now 1-2-1, travel to Mars Hill on Thursday to battle the Central Aroostook Panthers for their second meeting of the season.

Owl Boys dominate Vikings

On a beautiful Friday evening, our Owl boys showed that they can not only play with class B teams, but they can dominate at that level as well. Showing a unique display of dangerous offensive abilities, the Owls featured 4 different scorers while cruising to a 4-0 victory. Senior Dylan Wetmore showed outstanding leadership this evening by scoring the first goal of the evening, a beautiful direct kick that bent to the far corner of the net, leaving the Viking keeper helpless as it sailed over his head. Several minutes later, Wetmore again showed great skill as he crossed a textbook-perfect ball across the goal area to his teammate Ian Lee, who headed the ball for the Owls second goal of the evening. In the second half, the Owls showed that the future is bright as sophomores Jake Gendreau and Sam Cyr each recorded beautiful goals sealing the Owls victory, leaving no chance for a Viking comeback. The Owl defense led by Senior back Kyle Tardif and Senior Keeper Kyle Blanchette recorded their first shutout of the season and proving that they are beginning to feel comfortable to the new defensive setup that Coach Dean has developed for them.

The Owl boys go on the road to face Van Buren next Tuesday at 5:00.

Varsity Girls vs. Houlton Recap

On a beautiful Wednesday evening, our Lady Owls fought hard against a very aggressive Houlton team. Although Houlton scored first in the game, our girls were able to equalize the score at 1 - 1 late in the first half. Houlton then went ahead 2 - 1 which is where the score remained for most of the second half. With only minutes remaining, Madawaska was awarded a penalty shot when a Houlton player was called for a handball in the penalty area. Senior Nicole Cyr was selected to take the shot, which sailed left of the keeper, and evened the score a 2 goals apiece. Neither team was able to capitalize on the 10 minutes of extra time, resulting in a 2 - 2 final score.

Our girls are now 1-1-1 on the season.

Note: The JV girls also won their game this evening by a score of 2 - 1.
